Our SEN department strives to create opportunities for teachers to have access to information, support and advice on teaching methods recommended for students with special educational needs.
The aim is to ensure that all students have an opportunity to demonstrate their ability through fair and arranged assessment conditions.
Ms. Mansha is a special educator with over ten years of experience. She applied her commerce degree and postgraduation in Computer Science in her role as Finance Director in the corporate sector for ten years in South Africa.
Following her move back to Mumbai, she decided to revisit her passion for education and pursued a Diploma course in Learning Disabilities. During that time, she also worked with a non-profit that empowers intellectually challenged adults. She has been a remedial teacher at B.D. Somani for over three years, and through this time, she has constantly updated her skills, undertaking several seminars and online courses.
She is currently pursuing her Diploma in Integrated Counselling to be able to reach her students better. Her mission is to channel her diverse experiences to bring out the best in the children she supports.
Ms. Frenie has been teaching for over ten years. She began teaching at an activity centre for children, and followed her passion with an ECTE and Bachelor of Education.
During her teaching years in the pre-primary and primary sections of Bombay International School, she worked with students with hidden disabilities. This motivated her to pursue the Foundation course and Diploma in Learning Disabilities and became a remedial teacher at B. D. Somani.
She is currently pursuing a Diploma in Integrated Counselling as it overlaps with learning disabilities.
Ms Geeta finds great satisfaction in making a difference in the lives and profiles of children with special needs. Starting her career with preschool children, she then trained as a special educator, taking her training a notch higher, with an advanced course in the field. Deeply intrigued by the human mind, she has now gone on to train in the Robert Carkhuff model of Counseling and the Transactional Analysis, which aids her in understanding behaviour. Having worked closely with children of varied profiles in a private clinical set up for nine years before coming to B.D. Somani, she enjoys interacting with our bright and imaginative students.
